Gillyflowers
Gillyflowers or Gillivors are
carnations or pinks; like pink, carnation originally
meant the color, from the Latin for flesh: the miniaturist
Nicholas Hilliard speaks of laying on a flesh-colored foundation
for a miniature as "floating in your carnation".
